The 2012 National Art Exhibit at the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda celebrated the grand opening of the eight biennial National Art Exhibition this past Saturday morning on February 4th, 2012. The event kicked off with a ribbon cutting morning event which was done by the Punta Gorda Chamber and then followed the large amassing crowd to be gained free admission to view the exhibit which features over a hundred and twenty five pieces of work put together by artists from thirty three states in America. The exhibit is open to the public for viewing and art shopping until March 11th, when the exhibit will close. The Gala Awards reception is being held this upcoming Thursday evening on February 9th, 2012 at 7:00 PM with a 5.00 Admission charge to the reception and can be purchased as the Visual Arts Center front desk. The National Art Exhibit can be viewed at the following times, 9 AM – 4 PM on Monday through Friday, 10 AM – 4 PM on Saturdays, and 1 PM – 4 PM on Sundays, The biennial National Art Exhibit serves solely to benefit the programs and arts for the Charlotte County Art Guild.
